Our Current MAJOR Projects
Our projects include the restoration of the Mill House to what
it would have looked like in 1920. Most work has already been completed
but ongoing maintenance is required. Yates Abernathy is the chairman
of this project and would love to have your help.
The Stowe Park Special
Train and Shed/Display Area. The shed was originally a wagon/car shed
of the main house. It is being converted to a shed to store/display the ORIGINAL
Stowe Park Special. The Stowe Park Special is a 1951 Miniature Train
Company G16 model train. We have begun restoration of the engine, but not
renovations to the shed. In the photo you can see one of the passenger cars of
the original train.
The Outdoor Kitchen. The RL Stowe house was built
without an indoor kitchen as all cooking was done over wood stoves or open
fires. The kitchen was always housed away from the main house to avoid
fires. This restoration project has not begun due to limited resources and
manpower.
